The coolest family portraits I've done to date. Hands down.
Chelsea, her husband, and 3 kids we're practically pro's in front of the camera. They told me this was their third professional family photo shoot they've done. Every time they travel somewhere they book a professional photographer.
Prior to the shoot, I googled "family portraits Santa Monica Pier" to gather inspiration, so glad I did. I was able to find 6-10 locations that photographed really well based off seeing what other photographers had done in the past. I gave my self 30 minutes to scout the location before they arrive which helped out a bunch. The sky was cloudy and the sun was shaded behind the clouds so the light was naturally diffused, one of my favorite times to shoot outside because it produces some really even light.
The shoot lasted 2 hours and we got some magical shots. I really enjoyed directing the family and helping them be silly with each other. My favorite part was at the end when we walked under the pier by the water and photographed individual headshots. I was able to get the kids to be natural and move around a lot.
